Our vision is to create a strategic plan for sustainable and regenerative coastal development that will bring economic prosperity and security to the people living in the region. A plan that is deeply anchored in the protection and restoration of ecosystems, biodiversity, and natural resources.
Mission
Our mission is to bring communities, developers, investors, and government agencies together to work towards a development goal that protects and regenerates natural biological functions of watersheds, coastal ecosystems, and marine areas of a 100km region that encompasses the CostAlegre.
By defining the ethics and sustainable development goals for this precious region now, before rampant construction and growth take place, we have the best chance to protect a unique treasure – a coastline that still holds natural diversity, manageable population numbers, and vast areas of wilderness.
Choosing a new path
The desire to create an ambitious, regional plan, was borne out of the sense that business as usual is no longer acceptable, and that the road ahead needs significant change.
Climate change and the loss of biodiversity are major threats to the life systems on planet Earth. Every day we see the devastating impacts. Many people are suffering the consequences now, and the effects will accelerate in the coming decades. If we truly want to change our trajectory, we must rethink our relationship with nature and prioritize the balance between all systems.
The responsibility to shape this new future lies with all of us.
Sierra A Mar is a plan of action to create a different path forward—one of health, balance, and regeneration.
