Co-creating with communities, developers and agencies

We must embrace complexity

Many of the past failures in development were caused by a narrow focus on specialized goals. However, natural systems, human society, and environmental challenges are interconnected and interdependent. They are not simple or linear, and they are ever-evolving. Our strategies can no longer be self-centered and isolated. We must move in unison, with a common plan that includes all aspects of the natural and economic system.

Terrestrial & Watershed Restoration

Restore biodiversity in the ocean through protected areas and fisheries refuges. Establish sustainable fishing practices and management and introduce alternative livelihoods.

Getting a better understanding of the intricate system of RAMSAR sites and estuaries of CostAlegre. Co-designing restoration projects and management plans with the community.

Coastal & Lagoon Restoration

Marine Conservation

Restore biodiversity in the ocean through protected areas and fisheries refuges. Establish sustainable fishing practices and management and introduce alternative livelihoods.

The Turquesa Vision

A strategy for a uniquely positioned region

Mexico’s CostAlegre is one of those unique places where we can choose a different path, moving from environmental and economic risk to resilience and abundance based on a blue/green economy.

Turquesa envisions a 100km coastal zone of planning that would be a visionary example of an all-encompassing strategy for sustainable and regenerative development.

Social & Economic Development

Improvement of practices and management of natural resources, and development of high-value, high-quality products. Create opportunities through job training, business ventures, and programs.

Government & Infrastructure

Defining the overlap and complementary work that can be done with local and regional agencies. Sharing research, data, and diagnostics and finding the resources to execute plans.

Land Development & Investments

Work with developers and investors to establish Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) for the region. Collaborate on nature restoration/conservation and community development programs.
